D&S was founded in 1991 by owners Steven R. Straut (BS, Fordham) and Derek M. Dominici, (BA, Hobart College), shortly after the end of the first Gulf War. The company focused on the immediate opportunities presented after the first Gulf War, supplying equipment for large Kuwaiti reconstruction projects. First year sales in Kuwait were nearly USD 1 Million. The company then launched into other market of Southeast Asia.
In 1995 D&S opened its first overseas office in Kuala Lumpur, which remains its key Asian regional office and distribution hub. The company has steadily expanded its sales and markets since the beginning.
